In this task I am asking my students to use two cognates “pul” and “pora”. They have to create a story related to these cognates. This is a short speaking activity/assignment that I have designed for students in the target language – Hindi. They have to answer 5 questions on what is their favourite food and why and other related questions. http://vocaroo.com/i/s0nb29apOvE7
This Vocaroo recording is an oral assignment for Chinese level II students. Students need to address ordering food and drinks in a Chinese restaurant. They have about 2-4 minutes to give more details about the food and drinks they are going to order in Mandarin.
In this task, I’m asking my students to talk about their summer vacation using the past tense in Arabic. Students will activate their newly acquired vocab talking about their favorite activities.
This task is designed for my Chinese II students that returning from summer break to introduce themselves to their classmates. They need to talk about their family members, the fruits they like to eat, their hobby and their favorite sports. The time limit is no more than two minutes.
After recording their introduction, they need to send to me thru email. I will play for the whole class and make it aninterpretative activity to see if they understand what their classmates said.

Here is my Movie that I created using the Windows Movie Maker. The task for my students would be to collect images from the museum about Islamic Art, use the “Caption” function to write and learn new vocabulary referring the different materials of these artifacts (porcelain, metal, glass..etc.) in Arabic, and upload an Arabic track for the movie. This task is so much fun!

From the second tub is my this session’s topic- family, which includes family members,house rooms, activities. I think based on the theme, teachers can also add clothes. colors, etc.
My scenario is I am gonna use all the technologies to do a unit-end assessment. Students will choose one technology we learned to make a project to show that they have mastered the content in the unit.
Photo Peach—-I will first help students to review what we have learned, I use photo peach to ask students what are these family members and what are they doing, I show 2 sides with quiz question and 3 choices. give students 5 secs to think about it, after that , we will review the names of activities. after 2 sides, I finish reviewing all the names and the next 3 sides students will answer without choices in sentences.
Tagxedo—– for this part, I make the tagxedo in the shape of house, which match the topic of family. I will let students find the words combined different characters and also, students will try to make as many as sentences they can with all the characters they find in the tagxedo. besides that, teachers can also let students to find the correct match if teachers put both English and Chinese together. or teacher can put some ket words and let students to make conversation based on the key words.
Family project– in this part , i give students the assignment that they will choose one technology to make a project, I establish a voxopop and students can practice their speaking in it if they want me to listen to their practice before they actually show their project.
To make sure students better understand the requirements of the project, I show students three sample projects and I will also give them a rubric. based on the rubric , we will go over all the three sample projects, and let them give the grades so that students will have a better idea how they should do the project and what the content they should include.
Prezi, brainshark and voki,—I include these 3 sample projects.students can choose the one they like. If they feel comfortable to stand in front of the classroom, they can make a prezi and do an oral presentation. if they prefer to show the project with voice record, this will be their options.
I created a weebly that I put the applications I learned here at NOVASTARTALK. I will teach my advanced Chinese students four Chinese instruments. I will ask them to use different applications to practice listening, speaking, reading and writing. They will create their own project to compare and discuss the differences and similarities between Chinese and western instruments.
